EPIC  MOMENTS

                                         The Opening Shot.

This is an Introductory Article about the new Blog that will be attempted, entitled Epic Moments. The purpose of the Blog, as described in the subtitle, is to teach new hints, tips, and tricks with Epic, with the goal of saving time, increasing efficiency, and maybe getting you home a few minutes earlier.   It will not be used for announcements, major system changes or updates, or anything critical.  It is a (sometimes) lighthearted attempt to help you navigate, document, and order with fewer clicks.
The Genesis of this Blog is from a presentation at the 2015 Epic Usergroup Meeting.  This is an efficient way to quickly disseminate information to a wide audience, make it accessible from a number of platforms, and archive it so the information may be reviewed at any time.  Because this is published on the open internet, the authors and editors cannot show full page screen shots of the Epic EHR, and must be very cognizant about PHI and HIPAA.

The hints, tips, and tricks will be applicable to a wide variety of HHC providers, so not everything in here may be specific for Primary Care.

The Epic Campus is built on and around a working cattle farm in the town of Verona, Wisconsin.

This really has no effect on this Blog or anything else.  It just shows that land was inexpensive out in the middle of the Wisconsin prairie.

There is a huge campus, with an innovative design- sort of a cross between Google HQ and Walt Disney World.  In fact, the entrance to the auditorium below, was built by the same firm that build Thunder Mountain at WDW.

We will attempt to publish 2-4 articles per month, or until we run out of material.  I would like to thank Dr. Jack Schmetterling and the HHCMG Regional Medical Directors for their assistance with content. If you have any ideas for a quick hin, tip, or trick, please contact Jack.
